FAQs

When will my boat be ready and when will I have to return?

We endevour to have your boat ready for you by 1:30pm on the day of departure. The boat must be returned on the day of return by 9:00am and vacated by 9:30am.

We are sure that you will understand that each boat must be thoroughly cleaned and serviced before it is available for hire again. If you return the boat late, it is more probable that you will cause the delay in the start of someone elses holiday. We will therefore levy an additional charge for the late return of your boat.

All male or all female parties?

We do accept all male or all female parties. Hirers must be over 21 years of age and a refundable security deposit of £100 per person is payable on arrival.

Can I take a holiday in the winter?

Yes, we offer short-breaks and weekly holidays throughout Autumn with a special offer on most November holidays. The canal often freezes in late December and January and it is not possible to cruise a narrowboat in ice.

Access Statement

The yard is all on one level, but is covered in gravel, so wheelchair access is possible, but assistance may be necessary. Where steps are encountered a ramp can be provided to provide easier access to reception. Disabled access to the toilet facilities is restricted, with actual access by wheelchair not possible.

Free secure parking. Free cot sides. Free buoyancy aids (if required). Cancellation Protection Plan charge is 4% of your hire charge. Pet charge is £20.00 per pet.

What if I have to cancel my holiday?

We highly recommend that you use our cancellation protection scheme. This covers all people named as crew members on the booking form against most unfortunate and unexpected occurrences.

Can I run the engine when moored up?

Often boaters will run their engine when they are moored. Running the engine charges your bank of five batteries and provides hot water throughout the boat.

Will my boat be warm inside during the cooler nights?

Yes your boat has full gas central heating. Your heating can be left running 24 hours per day if required. The heating is thermostatically controlled.

Can I recharge my mobile phone and camcorder?

All boats have 240 volts with mains plugs like your home. In addition all our boats have a cigar lighter socket similar to a car. This is 12 volts and if your camcorder or mobile phone charger will work from your car, it will work on any of our boats.
